Welcome to UnderlandEX

The private data and service engine behind our origination, due-diligence, valuation and transaction-execution work in mining.

UnderlandEX is the private data and service engine behind our mining-services practice. It is not a public-data product. It is the internal system that lets a small advisory team operate across 250,000+ mining assets, 9,000+ companies, 85,000+ tenements and 70,000+ JORC resource estimates with the situational awareness of a major bank’s metals & mining desk.

The engine is organised around the four activities our clients hire us for.

1. Origination & Network

Active network across the Australian and Hong Kong mining communities for inbound deal flow, supported by a proprietary screening platform across our full asset universe, augmented by machine-learning signal generation. We use it for:

  • Greenfields and brownfields exploration target generation
  • Acquisition target identification (corporate and project-level)
  • Offtake counterparty origination

The screen is run continuously against the live announcement feed, so candidates surface the same day a status change hits the wire — not a quarter later when the next data vendor refresh lands.

2. Project Due Diligence

Technical sign-off on assets being acquired, financed or offtaken. Scope:

  • Geological model review
  • Drill database auditing
  • Subsurface geophysical imaging
  • Mining tenement and rights review
  • Fatal-flaw analysis
  • On-site technical assessment across multi-commodity targets

Every finding is anchored to the source filing or original technical report in the platform, so the audit trail is traversable end-to-end.

3. Valuation & Capital Structuring

Financial modelling for valuation and debt/equity capital structuring — DCF, NAV, financing-scenario analysis. Deliverables typically include:

  • Investment memoranda
  • Project finance term sheets
  • Sourcing project finance

Comparable-transaction analysis runs directly off the M&A layer (every disclosed acquisition, takeover, JV, offtake and capital raise across ASX, TSX, LSE, HKEX and EDGAR, cross-referenced against the project database).

4. Transaction Execution & Investor Relations

Closing-stage support across both sell-side and buy-side mandates:

  • Data room compilation and management
  • Coordination of independent technical reports (geological, metallurgical, environmental)
  • Investor relations, lead nurture and stakeholder management
  • Commercial contract negotiation

The platform under the hood

Two internal tools that compose the engine:

UnderlandEX Explorer — the discovery layer. Filter by commodity, jurisdiction, stage, ownership; pivot into the full technical picture for any asset — resource estimates, production history, partnership structure, tenement adjacencies.

UnderlandEX M&A — the corporate-action reference. A live feed of every listed-company announcement (ASX, TSX, LSE, HKEX, EDGAR) cross-referenced against the project database, plus morning brief, weekly report and quarterly league tables.

Both surface against a knowledge graph: every asset, every tenement, every resource estimate, every corporate action is held against a single canonical entity, with the source filing as the cited reference on every fact.

Working with us

Access is by engagement. If you have a mining transaction, financing or operational question that needs this kind of data plus technical depth, talk to us.

UnderlandEX is internal infrastructure, not a redistributable dataset. The platform is not licensed for downstream resale.
